Fishery Guidelines & Rules 2026 – 2027

  1. Rod Limit – Maximum of 2 rods allowed at all times.
  2. Rigs & Lines – All rigs must be safe. No leaders allowed; tubing is recommended. Braided main line is not permitted.
  3. Hooks – Only barbless or de-barbed hooks are allowed. No bent hooks.
  4. Line Strength – Minimum main line: 35mm or 15lb.
  5. Gate & Fence – Keep the fishery gate closed at all times. Beware of the electric fence.
  6. Biosecurity – All landing nets, weigh slings, and unhooking mats must be disinfected in the dipping tank before entering the fishery.
  7. Fish Handling – Use a suitable mesh landing net and well-padded unhooking mat or cradle. Carry wound treatment (e.g. Propolis or Korda Carp Care Kit) — any wounds must be treated.
  8. Photography Procedure – Once landed, disconnect the hook link. Get camera gear ready, break down the net, and use a sling or retainer to move the fish to the unhooking mat. Sacking of fish is strictly not allowed.
  9. Rod Supervision – Rods must not be left unattended more than one swim
  10. Snagged Fish – If a fish is snagged, do not pull for a break. Contact the on-site bailiff for boat assistance.
  11. Liability – Fishing is at your own risk. Vehicles are also left in the car park at the owner’s risk.
  12. Swim Use – Fish only from designated swims. Do not cut or damage vegetation.
  13. BaitNo nuts Only shop-bought or house particlesno homemade particles.
  14. Catch Reports – Please record catches with photos (both sides), weight, and date. For any fish over 30lb, contact the bailiff ASAP.
  15. Guests – Guests are welcome. £5 per night if staying overnight. No additional rods for guests.
  16. Noise – Radios, phones, tablets etc. must be kept low volume to avoid disturbing others.
  17. RubbishAll rubbish must be taken home, including tag ends, tea bags, cigarette butts, etc. Please check your area thoroughly and remove all baited/unbaited rigs.
  18. Dogs – Dogs are welcome if well-behaved and kept on leads at all times. Please clean up after them.
  19. Spawning Season – Do not fish during spawning and the following week to allow for recovery. Bookings during this time will be refunded or rescheduled.
  20. FiresNo fires Use designated fire pits only.
  21. Water Boundaries – Only fish the water directly in front of your swim.
  22. Parking – Do not block the gate. You may drop off gear but must park in the car park before entering.
  23. Toilets – Please leave the toilet in a clean condition after use.
  24. Alcohol & Behaviour – Alcohol must be kept to a minimum. No parties allowed at Selm Muir.
  25. Bait Boats – Allowed if necessary, but must be used within your swim boundaries.
